Why Not?
Services Ltd offer a Professional Portable Appliance Testing
Training Course (PAT Training). Portable Appliance Testing is an important
part of Health and Safety.
Regulation 4(2)
of the Electricity at Work Regulation 1989 says: "as
maybe necessary to prevent danger all systems shall be
maintained Safe as to prevent, so far as reasonably
practicable such danger".
The
Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 (Ref
5) which requires employers to make ‘a suitable and
sufficient assessment of the risks to health and safety of
employees……Such a risk assessment should include risks
arising from the use of electrical equipment.
The Provision
and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
(Ref 6), require the employer to select suitable work
equipment (regulation 5) and to ‘ensure
that work equipment is maintained in an efficient state, in
efficient working order and in good repair’.
Therefore
training must be encouraged to all users of electrical
equipment and be trained to report formally any faults found
or suspected in electrical equipment and appliances.
Managers of
premises have a legal responsibility to ensure that the
electrical equipment in their charge is safe. To achieve this
level of safety through the use of the Guidance Notes, 3
categories of specifically trained persons are required. a)
Managers of the premises, b)
Managers of the Testing Company, c)
Those who inspect and Test.
We provide PAT
training courses and supply PAT test equipment to enable you to
safely carry out PAT testing and comply with all the
regulations listed above. PAT Training courses are held on or off
site.
The half day PAT Training course covers both the theory of PAT testing,
legislation and practical hands-on exercises in line with the
current IEE Code of Practice. Delegates are given the
opportunity to perform tests on appliances and carry out
visual examinations where candidates must identify a range of
different classes and types of equipment.
